Jimmy White has launched a scathing criticism of Ronnie O’Sullivan ahead of the 2025 World Championship.
The tournament begins on April 19 at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, with O’Sullivan noticeably absent from recent competitions.
The 49-year-old has not played since breaking his cue at the Champions League in January.
He has subsequently withdrawn from multiple tournaments including the Masters, German Masters and Welsh Open.

White, a snooker legend and friend of O’Sullivan, has not held back in his assessment of the seven-time world champion’s approach.
Speaking with Stephen Hendry on the latter’s YouTube channel, White delivered a stark message to his friend.
“He would like to get to eight [world championships] of course, he would,” said White.
“But I think you know you have to get your act together.”

White continued: “You can’t keep not playing in competitions then expect. Okay he did have that year out and come back and win it.”
“He still practices, he is still playing all the time.”
Despite his criticism, White recently suggested that O’Sullivan was nearing a return to competitive play.
This prediction appears accurate as O’Sullivan has announced plans to make his comeback at the World Grand Prix in Hong Kong.

“I am really looking forward to coming to Hong Kong to play in the World Grand Prix,” O’Sullivan said.
“I have just been having a little break to keep myself fresh. I am excited to see you all.”
The timing of his return could be crucial with the World Championship approaching.
Off the felt, meanwhile, O’Sullivan has put his £2million home up for sale following his split from ex-fiancee Laila Rouass.
LATEST SPORTS NEWS:
Records show the property was purchased in 2018 for £1.4million.
This means the snooker star could make a substantial profit from the sale.
Fans will be watching closely to see if the Rocket can regain his competitive edge before the Sheffield showpiece in April.
The World Championship remains snooker’s most prestigious tournament, with O’Sullivan seeking a record-breaking eighth title.

O’Sullivan’s sporadic tournament appearances have become a talking point within the snooker community.
His ability to return from breaks and still perform at elite level has been demonstrated previously.
However, White clearly believes a more consistent approach is needed for O’Sullivan to achieve his ambitions.
