Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have established their main residence in a Cotswolds farmhouse, where they live with their two daughters, Sienna and Athena.

But the royal couple also maintains a secluded holiday retreat some 6,400 miles away on the island of Lamu, Kenya.

The African getaway serves as a private sanctuary for the family, offering a complete escape from their busy lives in the UK.

Edoardo’s father, an Olympic skier turned art dealer, owns a residence on the island.

According to Architectural Digest Middle East, Edoardo wrote his business plan whilst staying at his father’s Lamu home.

The name of Edoardo’s property development company, ‘Banda’, draws from these roots, as it means ‘house’ in Swahili.

Lamu Old Town is renowned as one of East Africa’s best-preserved Swahili settlements.

The couple’s connection to the island was seen in 2019, when they were photographed walking hand-in-hand.

The secluded nature of their Lamu residence allows Beatrice and Edoardo to enjoy completely remote breaks away from the public eye.
