Two counties in England may see their coldest temperatures in weeks this week – as the mercury drops once again. UK snow forecast maps show the exact date wintry weather will hit England once again as far south as Wiltshire, according to the latest projections from WX Charts.

New maps by WX Charts, utilising data from MetDesk, suggest that localised snowfall is expected to hit England, Scotland, and Wales on February 27. Light snowfall is also anticipated in northern areas of England, including Cumbria and Manchester, with a surprising reach as far south as Wiltshire.

The coldest regions will be in the north, particularly around Northumberland and Cumbria. Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Andy Page, stated: “We are now entering of period weather being influenced by low pressure systems from the Atlantic.

“As well as a number of yellow warnings for wind and rain we have issued an amber rain warning covering part of South Wales. Higher ground within this area could see 50 – 70 mm of rain this afternoon, evening and overnight with a few locations seeing 80 – 100 mm. As this rain is falling in an area where the ground is already wet there is the likelihood it could cause some impacts.

“It is also windy with many central, northern and western parts of the UK seeing gusts of up to 50-60 mph at times, and as much as 65-75mph in exposed spots along Irish Sea coastlines, Scottish Islands, and other areas of high ground further inland.”, reports Birmingham Live.

Even for those not under warnings, conditions will remain gusty and occasionally wet, although some eastern regions may stay predominantly dry until later in the day. The Met Office has warned that heavy rain will accompany the strong winds, particularly in the west and north today, resulting in very challenging weather conditions.
