Princess Kate and Prince William are “instrumental” to smoothing the UK’s relationship with Donald Trump, a source has claimed.

Prince William’s extraordinary meeting with Donald Trump in Paris last December has set the stage for a new era of royal diplomacy.

The encounter was marked by notable warmth from both sides, with the US President praising the Prince of Wales as “a good man” who was “doing a fantastic job.”

Trump also described the future King as “very handsome” during their December meeting, which officials on both sides hailed as a diplomatic success.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are now positioned to play a vital role in strengthening the UK-US “special relationship.”

Sources close to diplomatic circles suggest the royal couple could become “the power duo to save the so-called special relationship” between the nations.

This diplomatic role has taken on new significance as officials prepare for an expected return visit by Trump to the UK.

William’s connection with Trump is seen as “instrumental for the future,” according to a source, particularly as the couple move closer to their future roles as King and Queen.

Government advisers and Palace courtiers are working closely to leverage the Royal Family’s influence with President Trump, particularly as relations face strain over Ukraine policies.

With Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer due in Washington DC this week, speculation grows about a potential second state visit invitation for Trump.

While the King would serve as official host, William and Kate are expected to take on significant diplomatic duties during any such visit.

Officials believe Trump’s well-documented admiration for the royal family could help strengthen bilateral ties.

CNN anchor Max Foster told Hello!: “William had a complete triumph in Paris; and within the White House, that was seen to be a really successful meeting.

“Trump was really impressed by the Prince.

“It’s the pomp and pageantry that Trump loves, so a visit to the UK would require the King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales to put on a full-force welcome.”

“This is a big test for the royals,” he noted while emphasising Trump’s “fascination with royalty and being shown respect on the international stage.”

Foreign Office officials are exploring the possibility of a royal visit to the US, likely in 2026 to coincide with America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations.

Sources indicate Trump “sees William and Catherine as the future and the glamorous younger couple of the monarchy.”

“He loves some of their stardust rubbing off on him, and it’s vitally important that the most is made of these relationships,” a source told the publication.

Trump’s personal connection to the royals stems from his Scottish-born mother’s admiration for Queen Elizabeth II.
