Netflix has once again raised the prices of a monthly membership for both new and existing members. Earlier this month, the streaming giant announced customers on each of its three subscription tiers will now pay more every month, with some members now stung with a £24 per year rise if they want to stream hit shows like Squid Game, Bridgerton and Stranger Things.

The change was implemented on February 6 for new members, while existing members will receive an email giving them 30 days notice. The biggest hike has been applied to the Standard plan, which has increased by £2 per month to £12.99.

This marks a 20% increase from the previous £10.99 rate, while Netflix’s Standard with adverts and Premium plans have increased by £1 to the new price of £5.99 and £18.99 respectively. However, Brits can save more than £95 by bundling Netflix with a Sky TV package.

Last year, Sky unveiled a new selection of TV packs like the £15 per month Essential TV plan, which comes with a free Netflix subscription. Sky also lets you keep your existing Netflix account and will move the payment to your Sky bill for you so you won’t pay twice.

This package also provides access to more than 100 TV channels including Sky Atlantic and Sky Sports News, as well as a Discovery+ subscription. It’s worth noting that this option comes with the Netflix Standard with adverts plan, but you can upgrade to the Standard option for an extra £5 if you wish.

Doing so costs £60 over a year and saves £95.88 compared to the £155.88 it would cost to sign up to Netflix directly. Sky also lets members upgrade to Netflix Premium for an extra £10, which equates to a £107.88 saving over 12 months.

Sky’s current prices for Netflix Standard and Premium are reduced by £1 in a limited-time deal and it has not confirmed when the promotion will end. To get these prices means signing up for a 24-month contract, but keep in mind the provider states its prices ‘may change’ during the minimum term.

As well as the Essential TV package, Netflix is included with the £22 Ultimate TV plan, which comes with more than 40 extra channels than the entry-level option. The new Sky Glass Gen 2 smart TV also includes free Netflix access on the brand’s new QLED device with Sky channels and streaming apps built in.

Elsewhere, Virgin Media also offers a free Netflix subscription with select TV packages, like the Biggest Combo bundle. While a much more expensive option at £78.99 per month, this comes with 516Mbps fibre broadband, more than 210 TV channels including Sky Sports and Sky Cinema HD and Netflix Standard with ads at no extra cost.
