PAUL’S VOICE

I was sad to hear of the death of former Leaf public address announcer Paul Morris (“A mystique about him,” Lance Hornby, Feb. 11). I would go to Leaf games as a kid with my father every Saturday night in the ’60s and his voice that would resonate throughout the Gardens was a major part of that whole experience. It was a special time. A time when the fans went to actually watch the game and not to constantly be on their phones or talk amongst themselves and not pay attention to the play. Paul had a delivery that will never be equalled. He just did his job and didn’t take the cheesy, corny approach that most of the other PA announcers do in the game today. I am thankful I was a witness to Paul’s great work right up to the late ’90s. There will never be another one like him. Rest in peace, buddy.

GUERRERO NOT WORTH IT

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not worth what he’s demanding. How many positions can he actually play well? There are plenty of first basemen who are better defensively. Just because he swings a big bat does not entitle him to the money he seeks. Also, when a player assumes he hits a ball over the fence, he should not be just jogging to first base only for the ball to not clear the fence — and then make it worse by trying to get to second base only to be thrown out (peewee ball). Last of all, a professional should leave their jersey tucked in until they get in the clubhouse. No one wants to see a classless exit from the field of play.
