The BBC is to bring back its hit family game show Hole In The Wall, and it will be hosted by Alison Hammond. The show aired in the Noughties with Dale Winton and Anton Du Beke as hosts and is now set for a revival.
A source told The Sun : “Hole In The Wall got great ratings when it first came out so the Beeb have decided to bring it back. They are currently filming the pilot to see how it shapes up. They wanted to sign Alison and she jumped at the chance to do it.
“She’s one of TV’s most in demand stars right now and the Beeb is over the moon that they’ve signed her. Alison adores her job and is always on the lookout for shows where she can have a real laugh -that’s why she loves presenting Bake Off and This Morning. They are light-hearted and fun.”
Hole in the Wall is a game show where contestants try to fit through oddly shaped cutouts in a moving wall. If they fail, they get pushed into a pool of water.
The show originated in Japan as Brain Wall (also known as Tunnels no Minasan no Okage deshita) and became a global hit, with versions in multiple countries, including the US, UK, and Australia. The show features teams wearing tight-fitting bodysuits.
Teams who were able to fit through the holes in the wall as they approached – without getting pushed off the walkway – stood to win a cash prize.
Alison Hammond is best known for her work on This Morning. She first gained fame as a contestant on Big Brother UK in 2002, and her bubbly personality and humour made her a fan favourite. Since then, she has become a staple of British television.
She has appeared on shows like Strictly Come Dancing, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, and The Great British Bake Off as a co-host.
