NI traffic alerts: Co Derry road closed due to flooding

The Glenshane Road in Dungiven is closed to traffic due to reports of flooding near the quarry. Drivers should avoid the area and seek an alternative route for their journey.

With a weather warning in place until 1pm, the Met Office said strong winds could cause disruption to transport and infrastructure, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport considered likely.

The A20 Newtownards Road citybound is closed at its junction with the Albertbridge Road (past McDonalds) with citybound traffic being diverted left onto the Albertbridge Road. From there, drivers can head on towards Templemore Avenue and then right turn to rejoin the Newtownards Road, or carry on towards the Short Strand to make their way to the city centre.

Road users are asked to avoid the Old Loughry Road area of Cookstown as police and other emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious two vehicle road traffic collision. There are diversions in place. Seek an alternative route for your journey.

Both lanes of the M1 Westbound at Junction six have now re-opened following a road traffic collision in the area earlier. There remains a build-up of traffic and police are asking road users to exercise caution.

Motorists are advised to expect delays this evening following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the M1 Westbound at Junction six. 

The Windyhill Road in Macosquin outside Coleraine is closed following a serious two-vehicle collision. The closure is in place from just before the road’s junction with Isle Road. 

Diversions are in place and police are advising road users to avoid the area.

The Saintfield Road in Lisburn is currently closed in the direction of Ballynahinch following a two-vehicle road traffic collision. Police are advising road users to seek an alternate route.

The crash on the Westlink towards York Street/M2 has been cleared.

There has been a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the Westlink in Belfast, towards York Street/M2, just past Grosvenor Road.
Lanes 1 and 2 are currently blocked and delays are causing tailbacks onto the M1.

The crash in lane 1 at the start of the Westlink at York Street has now been cleared, but knock-on delays remain.

There has been a crash in lane 1 at the start of the Westlink at York Street. The incident is passable with care, but there are delays onto M3 and M2 at Nelson Street.

While the A12 Westlink remains busy from Broadway to York Street, all earlier incidents have since been cleared.

An early crash has since been cleared, but a broken-down lorry remains in lane 3 city-bound, past Grosvenor Road, and delays remain.

While the area is passable with care, there are tailbacks towards Broadway.
