A sweet senior cat was dumped at a Connecticut animal shelter because his owners claimed he was “too affectionate.”
The Little Guild in West Cornwall, Ct., shared a video on TikTok of the eight-year-old black beauty called Ravi.
“Ravi was surrendered for being ‘too affectionate,’ according to the shelter’s now-viral video, which has more than 2.9 million likes.
“This cuddly 8-year-old boy wants a family that will love him unconditionally.”
The clip shows Ravi jumping out of his cage to cuddle with one of the shelter’s workers.
“Ravi is such a love bug! He will curl up into your arms and snuggle,” the domestic short hair’s biography reads on Little Guild’s website.
They noted that his right eye is always a little runny “due to a previous upper respiratory infection,” but he is unfazed.
“Ravi loves to toss his toys in the air and chase them around,” the shelter detailed.
“This sweet boy will brighten up any home with his infectious personality,” they added. “If you want a cat that will always be by your side, Ravi is the one for you!”
Given how typically aloof many cats are, Ravi sounds like a dream — and commenters were not only shocked to learn why he was surrendered but many were ready to adopt him immediately.
“I just submitted an adoption application,” one person wrote, while another prospective adopter added, “GIMME! TAKE ALL MY MONEY!! I WANT THE KITTY!”
One disbelieving commenter asked, “Too affectionate??? TOO affectionate?? TOO AFFECTIONATE????!!!!!!??”

Others slammed Ravi’s former owners.
“HOW IS THIS A PROBLEM?” one person seethed, while another mocked, “‘My cat loves me too much so I’m abandoning him.’ What’s wrong with people.”
One commenter noted: “The way most people would kill to have an affectionate cat.”
One kitty owner joked: “I would die for an affectionate cat, my cat literally hates the fact that I’m alive.”
In a follow-up video, the Little Guild revealed that they have received more than 100 applications for him.
“We do have a ton of interest in him. We have gotten in over 100 applications for him, so he will find a home very shortly,” a shelter worker said.
“We are a very small shelter, so we only have one person who works on the applications and it typically takes five to seven business days for us to process one.”
She added: “We only have one Ravi unfortunately, so not everyone is going to be able to get this sweet boy, but we do have other cats,” before the video shows other felines up for adoption.
“There’s always more cats coming who are just as sweet.”
