A tech mogul pursuing eternal youth has discovered that erections play a huge part in his quest.
For years, Bryan Johnson has been wearing a penis device that tracks his nighttime erections and, according to his data, it can determine how long an individual will live.
Johnson found that a sign of declining health for men and women is how erect a man’s penis, or how engorged a woman’s clitoris is while sleeping.
“When I first started measuring [nighttime erections], I didn’t know if it was a good idea. Is it lowbrow? Is it like a little off?” he mused to the Daily Mail.
“It turns out that, this is true for both men and women, that a man’s nighttime erections and a woman’s nighttime erections — the clitoris engorging — is one of the most important biomarkers of anything about our entire body,” Johnson explained.
“So while it kicks up some giggles, it really is one of the most important things for all of us to know about our bodies and it’s just not talked about,” he added.
The 47-year-old noted that men who don’t have nighttime erections are 70% more likely to have a premature death, echoing a 2015 study that found men with erectile dysfunction have a 70% increased risk of an early death.
Last month, the biohacker shared on X a comparison of his and his teen son Talmage’s nighttime erections.
The 19-year-old’s data showed he experienced two more minutes of erections than his father but their AndroAge — the health and age of their erections — were the same at 22 years old.
“Raise children to stand tall, be firm, and be upright,” Johnson wrote on X at the time, but was blasted by commenters for publishing intimate details about his son.
Johnson, however, clarified to the Mail that he doesn’t ask his son to do anything.
“This is all his own curiosity,” Johnson said of Talmage.
“If you give kids these toys, they will play with them, and so I’ve just given him all these different things he can play with.”

Johnson detailed that he can measure his overall health by tracking his penis health, which he does using a device where a band goes around the base of his penis and monitors erections by measuring penis size throughout the night.
In a recent post on X, Johnson called nighttime erections a workout for the penis and clitoris and said prioritizing sleep is one of the most important things to improve nighttime erections.
“If you’re not sleeping well, you’re grinding or you’re otherwise just not prioritizing sleep, you’re probably flaccid,” he said in the video.
“Now this is very problematic because it’s an indicator of bad health and bad things to come.”
In addition to monitoring his erections, Johnson also undergoes testing of his semen to see how healthy it is, measures blood flow to his flaccid and erect penis using ultrasound, and measures how fast and strong he can urinate.
“Nighttime boners are the missing piece of your sex education you never knew,” he added. “They’re really important.”
