Last week, National Post senior editor and columnist Terry Newman sat down with Philip Cross, former chief economic analyst at Statistics Canada, to discuss Mark Carney’s run for the Liberal leadership.

Newman and Cross talk about the role of a governor of the Bank of Canada, and how Carney deviated from the way in which other central bankers tend to behave. They also discuss the emergence of forward guidance and net-zero initiatives in banks, as well as Carney’s overall performance as head of the banks of England and Canada. Was he a rock star banker who protected Canadians from the 2008 financial crisis? Watch to find out.
