A Cornish coastal gem, Newlyn, nestled near Penzance, has been touted as one of the ‘coolest’ destinations to relocate to this year, attracting plaudits for its thriving art scene.
Highlighted in a list curated by The Times, Newlyn emerged as the top 11 places to consider moving to by 2025, and notably, it was the sole contender representing Cornwall. Its peers on the list included Penge in south-east London and Farsley in Leeds.
Newlyn’s reputation for “stellar” seafood and “Aegeanesque beaches” secured its spot as an idyllic retreat for creatively inclined individuals, dubbed a “creative corner of the county”. According to The Times: “Since the 1880s Newlyn has been known for its art scene, thanks to the quality of the Cornish light and Aegeanesque beaches.”
The publication also observed that the town is now “no longer overlooked” in comparison to St Ives, crediting this change to the proliferation of creative ventures, from the Newlyn Art Gallery to the cherished independent Filmhouse cinema, reports Cornwall Live.
