A novel alternative to the classic vacuum cleaner has been hailed as a game-changer for its effectiveness, as well as its affordability.
Battling dust and debris is an ongoing chore that can become quite tiresome, especially after a full day’s work. This can leave many searching for efficient and trustworthy cleaning solutions that won’t take up too much of their precious downtime.
On the well-known Reddit forum Life Hacks, one person was keen to divulged their clever tactic for maintaining a tidy and dust-free abode – by ditching conventional vacuums for an economical industrial option.
Kärcher, a family-run business specialising in cleaning technology, offers products ranging from pressure washers to window vacs and steam cleaners. Its KWD 1 vacuum cleaner model, crafted to deliver exceptional cleaning for dry, wet, fine, and coarse dirt, received high praise from the Redditor who described it as “life changing”.
In a post titled: “Buy a cheap industrial vacuum and use it to clean your house”, the user detailed their experience: “I bought a 50€ industrial vacuum last week (Kärcher KWD1). It’s a life changer, way more useful than the old Dyson I have. It’s super powerful and you can vacuum both dust and liquids.”
For those interested in a similar product, the Kärcher WD 2 Plus Wet and Dry Vacuum Cleaner retails for £63 at Argos. This is a notable difference to the least expensive Dyson vacuum cleaner available at Argos, which comes with a £230 price tag.
Reddit users have been sharing their experiences with industrial or more “professional” vacuum cleaners in the comments section, with many agreeing on the effectiveness of certain types. One user confirmed the value of a shop vac for pet owners with wooden floors: “I have 4 cats and wood floors, been using a shop vac for years. Best $50 spent.”
Another user expressed their fondness for the Henry brand, known for its professional cleaning prowess: “Henry is amazing. I bought one for £50 in 2005 during my student life in London, used it for over 5 years and sold it for £40 in 2011, when I moved. I miss Henry.”
A third person also praised Henry: “Henry is the GOAT [greatest of all time]. Henry for the win. We’ve had a Henry Micro in bright red colour for many years.”
The conversation also touched on the difference in cleaning needs between professionals and casual users, with one user still more than happy with their Dyson: “Also because they have to vacuum several hours a day. When it’s just once in a while, the stick Dyson is game changing. I don’t have to deal with a plug and haul around a vacuum. I used to never actually vacuum before I got this.”
Additionally, another commenter further highlighted the benefits of an industrial vacuum cleaner for pet owners: “Glad I’m not alone – between my 2 dogs and cat, it’s rough out here. People think I’m crazy when they see me pull out my shop vac”.
