Bristol-born ITV weathercaster Alex Beresford has welcomed his first child with his wife, Imogen McKay, and shared the newborn’s name in a sweet Instagram post. The presenter, who spent over a decade at ITV West Country, took to Instagram on Sunday morning to share a series of adorable photos of his new daughter, and to praise Imogen for being “amazing”.
The 44-year-old, who also has a teenage son from a previous marriage, wrote: “After what felt like forever she’s finally here! Camille Beresford arrived safely earlier this week and already has us wrapped around her little finger.
“Mrs B was AMAZING and is doing incredible, taking to motherhood like a duck to water, and I’m enjoying my new role as Chief Nappy Officer. And before you ask, yes I’m on the ones and twos! Cruz has also gained his protective Big Brother wings.”
Alex went on to praise the “incredible” team of midwives and doctors who helped to deliver baby Camille at Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital in London.
He wrote: “The NHS is quite simply amazing. Over the last nine months I saw staff from all over the world constantly going the extra mile. I can’t thank you enough for keeping mum and baby safe.”
It didn’t take long for almost 7,000 of Alex’s fans and followers to like his Instagram post, with hundreds rushing to the comments section to congratulate the happy family.
Loose Women anchor, Charlene White, wrote: “Yay! So so happy for you guys. Congratulations.”, and Dancing On Ice professional, Mark Hanretty, commented: “Huge congratulations and lots of love!”.
Meanwhile, All Saints singer Melanie Blatt wrote: “Congratulations on your beautiful family! Sending love.”, and Dr Amir Khan, resident GP on ITV’S Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, added: “Oh wow! Absolutely perfect. Congratulations my friend.”
And professional matchmaker Paul C. Brunson, best known for dating shows like Celebs Go Dating and Married At First Sight, simply posted a string of red heart emojis in response to Alex Beresford’s exciting news.
Alex and Imogen tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in Mallorca in September 2022, with his son Cruz from his previous marriage in attendance as ring-bearer and “mini best man”.
The couple managed a long-distance romance between London and Bristol before deciding to get engaged, reports The Mirror.
Reflecting on their initial encounter in Bristol, Alex shared: “When we met, it felt as if we’d known each other for ages. Holding hands and laughing together just came naturally. We hit it off from the start. We talked every day about our shared values and goals, and our love for our families. We’ve always been on the same page.”
