A man is due in court today charged with offences including hijacking and kidnapping.

It follows an incident outside Craigavon Area Hospital last month.

At the time, police said the driver of a silver Volkswagen Polo had been approached by a man outside the hospital shortly before 6am on January 25.

“The man got into the front passenger seat of the car, and threatened the victim, who drove a short distance to an industrial estate in the Carn Road area, where he exited the vehicle,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

“The suspect took the keys and drove off, believed to be heading in the direction of the M12 and on to the M1.

“Thankfully, the victim was physically unharmed, although he was left shaken by the ordeal.”

Today the PSNI said a man was due in court.

The 45-year-old has been charged with offences including hijacking, threats to kill, kidnapping and assault on police.

He is due to appear in court in Lisburn this morning.
