Reality television star Gemma Collins was an unexpected hero this week after she helped a stranded driver move her car in the middle of the night. The 44-year-old was heading back from a shoot when she came across a woman who’s car was stuck in a ditch.
Despite the TOWIE star’s impractical outfit of a dramatic, glittery ballgown, she didn’t hesitate to help the woman out. Sharing a video to her Instagram, Collins and her friends got out of their car to help the woman. Collins can be heard saying: “I can’t leave a young girl stranded.”
“After today’s shoot, when I say to you my life is never plain sailing, I’m taking a team to Smith’s and look what’s happened,” Collins says from her vehicle, whilst pointing to the stuck car ahead.
Turning to the woman in the car, she then shouts: “We’re coming to save you honey!”
Collins then approaches the woman in the car saying: “Honey, it’s the GC. I couldn’t stop and leave you. The GC has come to the rescue,” as the woman stuck could be heard saying: “Oh my God!”
“Can we help this girl?” Collins asks her friends before adding: “I’ve got a tow bar.”
After attempts of the group trying to push the car fail, Collins asks if they can call someone to help, and it appears a rescue service arrive. Once Collins is back in her own car she playfully says, “I get my hands dirty honey.”
Fans were quick to praise Collins as well as laugh at the unlikely situation, with one comment reading: “Are you telling me I could get GC recovery rather than AA”.
Another said: “What a blessing you are Gemma even though you were dressed to the 9s, sparkles as well, you helped a person in need so well done you.”
“You couldn’t write it Gem,” a fan wrote. “Imagine getting stranded and the GC coming to your rescue still in her sparkles. ICONIC. Well done Gemma and team for your help.”
Collins shared that she was on her way to Smith’s restaurant in Essex when the incident occurred, and that her and her friends finally made it. She wrote on her Instagram story: “After all that we made it to my fave restaurant”.
