Australia tennis icon Rennae Stubbs has revealed she would ‘consider’ coaching Emma Raducanu if the British star was ready to accept some hard truths.

The 22-year-old headed into 2025 full of optimism to get back on track after a strong offseason working with Cavaday and fitness coach Yutaka Nakamura.

She made it through to the third round of the Australian Open, before being blown away by Iga Swiatek.

But Cavaday announced he would be stepping down as Raducanu’s coach due to health reasons after the tournament.

Raducanu is still yet to find a permanent replacement having linked up with Roman Kelecic on a temporary basis.

She’s struggled to find form since the Australian Open and has lost four consecutive matches for the first time in her professional career.

Raducanu admitted recently that she’s not going to rush into making a decision on her next coach, but Stubbs has thrown her hat into the ring and explained what she would want from the British No 2 in return.

“I would consider it, of course,” she said on her podcast.

“I would never say no to an opportunity of working with a Grand Slam champion.

“What would I work on? The first thing I would do is sit her down and ask her what she wants.

“I think that’s the key. You have to know what your player wants. I think they all come in and think I am going to tweak this or that.

“I would sit her down and say let’s be honest here, what do you want? How do you want to approach this? And then we go from there.

“It’s a bit of a sit down come to Jesus moment and be honest with her about where I feel like her top level is and how she can get there and not be like we can win another slam tomorrow. Because it’s unlikely at this point.

“So what are her goals realistically and what can we do to get there?

”It’s unclear when Raducanu will be back in action and it’s increasingly unlikely she will be in the field for the Dubai Tennis Championships next week.

Raducanu will require a last-minute wildcard entry, much like the one she received for the Qatar Open.

There are tournaments in either Mexico or Austin the week after the Dubai Tennis Championships that Raducanu could opt to enter.

But Raducanu will want to find some form ahead of the Sunshine Swing in Indian Wells and Miami at the start of next month.
