A popular Peter Kay tribute artist has died. A statement on Facebook broke the news about Simon Mark, saying: “It is with heavy heart that last night Simon fell asleep and didn’t wake up!

“We all know how loved he was by all, and the fantastic memories we all had with him. I know this is a massive shock to everyone and he will be deeply missed.

“At this moment in time we don’t know how, what happened or why. Fly high Si. We love you!”

The Facebook account described Simon as “the UK’s most authentic tribute act to the comedy legend Peter Kay.” Simon worked across the UK and Europe and was one of the top Peter Kay impersonators. A venue in Devon, one of the many places he visited, described Simon in 2023 as “the UK’s most authentic tribute act to the comedy sensation Peter Kay.”

Tributes have poured in. One venue said in a comment underneath the post: “We are absolutely devastated to hear this heartbreaking news. Simon performed at Nyx Heswall, and our customers absolutely loved him!

“Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him. Fly high, Si.”

Another said: “So so sorry to read this. Great entertainer and the best night ever in Labour club.” A working men’s club said: “On behalf of all at Hartlepool Working Mens Club, can we offer our deepest sympathy to Stacy,his lovely wife and a Hartlepool girl.

“We only had the pleasure of the show 3 weeks ago. So sad, deepest sympathy and condolences to all the family and friends. Sleep tight big fella. Was a pleasure to have met and watched you. God bless.”

Another touching post said: “OMG, I’m so sorry. What a loss, he was simply one of the nicest people I’ve met! Sending so much love to you, Stacey xxxx”

Comedian Marc Bolton added: “I feel sick reading this. We only spoke the other day. Sending sincere heartfelt condolences to Stacey and all Simon’s family and here’s to the wonderful memories we made last year on tour. God bless my brother.”

Another fan said: “Oh my God. So shocked. Fly high Si and keep them laughing up there.” Simon had UK tour dates scheduled all the way up until December 2025.

Yet another fan said: “OMG, I’m so sorry. What a loss, he was simply one of the nicest people I’ve met! Sending so much love to you.”
