Costa Coffee has excited fans with the announcement of a ‘new’ beverage now available from its self-serve machines. It comes after the chain acknowledged how much Brits love the classic drink.
The renowned coffee chain, gracing high streets in most UK towns and cities, also provides self-serve machines in various supermarkets, petrol stations and other convenient locations where a coffee shop wouldn’t necessarily fit. These machines can dispense popular coffee options such as lattes, cappuccinos and americanos.
Yet, until now, a particular hot favourite has been missing from the menu, despite its simplicity. Following customer feedback, Costa management announced that tea – a staple in many British daily routines – will be added to over 7,000 machines, as reported by Grocery Gazette.
While staffed shops have consistently offered tea, including many herbal varieties, this option is new for the express machines. Back in April, a handful of the machines trialled the drink option – and it was clearly a success as it now rolls out across the UK.
This decision comes after Costa’s recent survey findings, which found that, on average, people in the UK consume three cups of tea each day, reports Wales Online.

Andrew Miller, the Express and Corporate Sales Director for Costa Coffee UK and Ireland, said: “We know how much our customers value a great cup of coffee, and the same goes for tea – which is an integral part of daily life in the UK. We’re thrilled to expand our offering with the addition of tea to Costa Express machines nationwide.
“Its inclusion in our portfolio reflects our dedication to delivering the beverages our customers want, wherever they are. Whether it’s a tea to accompany a morning commute or a break during a busy day, Costa Express is making it easier than ever for people to enjoy their favourite brew on the move.”
Costa machines, which are common in supermarkets such as Tesco, offer customers the chance to get more bang for their buck. When picking up a meal deal, adding a Costa drink to the mix with your sandwich and snack can make the deal even more valuable.
For those looking to locate their nearest Costa Express machine, it’s as simple as going online. By entering a postcode, you’ll be directed to your closest machine displayed on a convenient map.
