Wrexham midfielder Elliot Lee was taken to hospital following a two-car collision after Tuesday night’s Vertu Trophy match against Bolton Wanderers.

The 30-year-old was involved in the accident while travelling home from the Racecourse Ground following the fixture.


Both Lee and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to hospital by emergency services who quickly attended the scene.

A club statement confirmed the incident, which occurred as Lee was returning home after the Vertu Trophy match.

Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, with the club expressing gratitude for their “quick response and action.”

The statement revealed that Lee escaped the collision without major injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle is currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the collision.

Wrexham AFC stated they would be making “no further comment at this stage” regarding the incident.

This marks the latest traffic incident involving a Wrexham player in recent weeks.

Last month, Republic of Ireland international James McClean was involved in a single-vehicle incident during hazardous weather conditions in North Wales.

McClean was travelling to training when the accident occurred, with fog and ice making driving conditions particularly treacherous.
