When it comes to celebrity-loved makeup, we brace ourselves to hear the price tag. But a brand used by Love Island host, Maya Jama, has launched a mascara that not only costs less than £13, but has shoppers claiming it’s the ‘the best (mascara) I’ve ever used.’
It comes as affordable drugstore brand, Rimmel, has launched its ‘biggest and boldest’ beauty staple yet in the form of the Thrill Seeker Extreme Mascara. Coming in at £12.99, it promises to ‘take your lashes from 0 to 100’ – and it seems to be living up to the hype.
The ultra-volumising mascara works to deliver extreme volume, length, separation, and instant lift, all without clumping. Consumer tests have shown impressive results, with 87% of participants confirming extra volume and 90% praising its instant coating ability for an impactful look, reports the Mirror.
The mascara’s tapered tower fibre brush is expertly crafted to capture and amplify each lash, ensuring maximum volume without the dreaded smudging that can lead to panda eyes. It’s designed to cater to any look, whether you’re aiming for dramatic boldness or a more subtle, fanned-out appearance, promising no clumping or flaking.
It’s infused with a trio of lash-gripping waxes to create great volume that lasts up to 24 hours without feeling weighed down, and is said to be perfect for contact lens wearers and anyone with sensitive eyes, as it’s been ophthalmologist tested.

For those looking to save while splurging, Boots is currently offering a three-for-two deal on selected Rimmel products, including the new Thrill Seeker Extreme Mascara. This means shoppers can pick up the latest hit, replenish their go-to items, and get the least expensive product at no cost.
Despite being a fresh addition to the Rimmel line-up, the Thrill Seeker Extreme Mascara has already won over a legion of fans. One satisfied customer praised it as “one of the best mascaras I’ve used,” and another shared, “Best mascara ever. I get lots of compliments about my lashes.”
A third person enthused, “As someone who uses waterproof mascara all the time, this mascara has replaced it. It’s smudge-free, lasts all day without flaking, and holds a curl. Amazing formula and the packaging looks so luxe.”
Meanwhile, someone said the brush bristles are “shaped well to get all the eyelashes”. Someone else said: “I am totally in love with this mascara. It added so much length to my lashes. People thought I was wearing falsies.”
Unfortunately, not everyone was as impressed, with some reviewers complaining it’s “clumpy and flakes off throughout the day.” However, this person had a different experience: “I loved this mascara. My lashes look so long and not at all clumpy.”
As a global brand ambassador for Rimmel, Maya Jama has been known to use a number of their products, featuring in their TV adverts and social media posts, as well as sharing some of the products to her own account. In a post about the launch, Rimmel said: Say hello to Thrill Seeker Extreme. Get ready to take your lashes from 0 to 100 with 5x more volume. This is not just mascara; it’s a lash revolution ! @mayajama is already obsessed, and you will be too.”
If you aren’t a Rimmel fan, I would also recommend Kylie Jenner’s Kylash Mascara, now £18.40 from £23. It makes lashes look incredibly thick and full with just a couple of swipes, although it’s quite hard to remove. ICONIC’s Triple Threat Mascara is another new favourite, and it’s currently 20% off at Debenhams. Or you can shop Rimmel’s new Thrill Seeker Extreme Mascara via Boots.
