Viewers tuned into the new series of Stacey Solomon’s decluttering show, Sort Your Life Out, became concerned for the family featured in episode one.

The Appleyards enlisted Solomon’s help along with her team of experts to transform their chaotic home into an organised space, but when fans realised the family were renting their home, they became concerned about what their landlord’s potential reaction could be.

The show, now in its fifth series, sees families in need of some assistance clearing out all of their possessions to see from a new perspective just how many items are cluttering their homes, with Solomon and the team helping them to free themselves of some belongings.

The synopsis for the latest episode read: “A lively family of six call on Stacey and her gang to help transform their cluttered three-bedroom home.

“Stacey challenges them to sort their life out in just seven days by letting go of half their belongings, paving the way for a beautifully reorganised and functional space.

“With Stacey and the team’s help, the family begin by packing all their possessions into boxes, stripping every item from their rented home to reveal the hidden potential beneath the chaos.

“Throughout the process, we get to know sentimental parents Helen and Phil, who after a difficult journey to grow their family have kept every memory and achievement of their children – 14-year-old Annabelle and 12-year-old triplets Josiah, Daniel and Reuben.”

Family matriarch Helen explained how the chaos began when she and Phil discovered they would be having triplets.

“They scanned us, and they told us it was twins, [we said] ‘we can do twins,” she explained.

Recalling her phone call to her husband, Helen shared how she informed him: “‘They’ve found another baby, we’re going to have triplets.'”

“I still can’t believe it that we went from one to four literally in a day,” she emphasised.

Summing up their lack of space and untidy rooms, she continued: “As the children are getting bigger, everything else is getting bigger, but the house isn’t getting bigger…

“The bits and pieces that I struggle to get rid of are the children’s achievements – it holds too many memories.

“At the end of the day, we’re all about being together and I need to detach myself from the stuff because I just want my family to be able to function in this house.”

During the lengthy and at times emotional journey of decluttering and transforming their home, the family shared how they live in a rented house, which prompted concerns from some viewers, especially when the final product was shown of the home, completely revamped and looking brand new.

Taking to X, one penned: “The sad reality is, this family rent so the landlord will probably see the house all done up and want to evict them for someone who will pay more! #sortyourlifeout.”
