Pret A Manger is set to keep its coffee subscription service at the current price of £5 per month, instead of a planned increase to £10. This allows new and existing Club Pret members to continue enjoying a 50 percent discount on up to five barista-prepared drinks daily.
The subscription was initially set to rise to £10 from March 31, 2025. In an email sent to subscribers, the coffee chain stated: “Our Club Pret monthly subscription fee will remain at just £5.”
Pret added: “At Pret, we believe in offering high-quality, organic coffee and Barista-made drinks at fantastic value. With Club Pret, you’ll continue to enjoy great savings on up to five Barista-made drinks per day.”
They also thanked their customers, saying: “Thank you for being part of Club Pret. We love serving you and hope to see you in our shops very soon.”
The scheme, which started in September 2020 at £20 a month after a downturn in sales during Covid lockdowns, initially included five free drinks and food discounts, reports the Express. However, with ingredient costs and VAT on the rise, the price gradually climbed to £30, leading to criticism from customers as menu items increased in price.
Pret overhauled the subscription in September 2024, slashing the cost to £5 and focusing on half-price drinks while removing the food discount altogether. Originally, this price was set to last for six months before rising to £10 per month in March 2025. However, it will now stay at £5 for an indefinite period.
Pret has almost 500 shops around the UK. There are 274 in London, 14 in Manchester, 10 in Birmingham, and smaller numbers scattered across other areas of the UK, according to data firm Scrape Hero.
