Discovering you’ve been cheated on can be heartbreaking.
No one anticipates their partner’s betrayal, but it is an unfortunate reality in many relationships. The revelation may come from the partner’s confession or through personal discovery of their deceit. Either way, it’s always heart-wrenching and often signals the end of the relationship.
However, one woman was left particularly shocked by the manner in which she discovered her boyfriend’s infidelity – all unravelled via text messages that she could read. Adding insult to injury, her boyfriend chose to meet his secret lover while leaving her at home, under the impression that she was oblivious to his actions.
Elle shared her story on TikTok, explaining how she had recently acquired a new phone and with it, a new number. During a lunch date with her boyfriend, he asked her to text him so he could save her new contact details.
Once they returned home, she sent him a flirtatious message, to which he responded from the bathroom. Their playful exchange continued, with Elle admitting she was “getting all hot and bothered”.
Then, her boyfriend texted her saying, “I’ll be there soon,” leading Elle to believe he was merely referring to exiting the bathroom. However, upon leaving the bathroom, he informed Elle that he had to depart due to an “emergency”.
The woman’s fears were confirmed when her boyfriend stopped by the front door and told her: “Oh, you never sent me a text message. I still don’t have your number.”
This left Elle in shock as she pieced together that her boyfriend had spent the afternoon thinking he was communicating with someone else, leading her to suspect infidelity.
Elle recounted the unsettling discovery: “When he got home that night, I was p***ed. I asked him who he thought he was texting, and he lies and pretty much just says he knew it was me, he was just messing with me. Totally gaslights me and makes me think I’m crazy.”
In response to her story, commenters rallied around Elle, encouraging her to press her boyfriend for answers about his dubious outing, convinced that he was unfaithful.
One commenter advised: “Definitely weird, babe. You should confront him, you deserve so much more!”, while another suggested a more drastic measure: “I would use the time he’s with another woman to move him and all his stuff out of the house.”
