A man spat at a police officer after being arrested during the riot in Bristol last summer. Terrell Morris, 32, was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court last Friday, February 7.
He approached uniformed officers during the riot on Saturday, August 3, and asked if he could pass through the cordon to get to his car. After being refused, Morris became increasingly hostile and threatening.
He was then arrested before being transported to custody. However, he spat at a police officer who was “simply doing their job”.
Morris was given an 18-month suspended prison sentence and order to pay £50 in compensation. Over 40 convictions have now been secured following the far-right violence in Bristol last summer.
Senior Investigating Officer DCI Tom Herbert said: “Morris acted in a threatening manner and then deplorably spat at a police officer who was simply doing their job.”
Avon and Somerset Police said: “Due to ongoing criminal cases involving several defendants, we would like to remind the public not to publish any material or commentary that could potentially prejudice those proceedings.”
