Former Disney actress Christie Carlson Romano is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds after a shooting trip took a horrible turn.
The ex Even Stevens star revealed on social media that she’d been hospitalized after she was shot multiple times in the face while she was celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s 42nd birthday. Christie shared a video of herself on Instagram, displaying the injuries to her right eye and forehead to her 731K followers on the platform.
“I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a present,” Christie wrote in the post. “There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face.”
She added that her husband “immediately sprung into action,” analyzed her and then got her to the hospital.
“I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye,” the small screen note further explained. “Unfortunately a fragment got lodged behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this time. Doctors will continue to monitor me (I can see normally at the moment).”
The Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test actress admitted that all she could think about when the incident happened was her loved ones.
“I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes,” she said, referencing her daughters Isabella Victoria and Sophia Elizabeth who he she shares with husband Brendan. “…I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”
When speaking on the incident, which happened on a trip in Austin, Texas, where they live, the Cadet Kelly alum gave a special thanks to the first responders on the scene who came to her aid, praising them for being “superhero-like.”
In the clip she said they were “just the most amazing, superhero-like people to take care of us at our most desperate times.”
Christie’s husband Brendan commented on her post, complimenting her on her being so resilient.
“You are the bravest, toughest, most stoic and bada- – woman I have ever met. I am so thankful you are alive,” he wrote. “I am so thankful you are the mother to our children. I wouldn’t know what to do without you. I love you more than life itself.”
Christie and Brendan have been married since 2013.
