The Masked Singer UK is nearing its much-anticipated finale on ITV, with fans eager to uncover the identities of the remaining characters. Seven celebrities have already been revealed.
Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway and Bake Off judge Prue Leith were unmasked as Spag Bol and Pegasus, respectively, in the first episode. They were followed by 90s pop sensation Macy Gray and T’Pau star Carol Decker, who were disclosed as Toad in the Hole and Tattoo.
Presenter Mel Giedroyc was then revealed as Teeth before artist Grayson Perry and Irish singer Andrea Corr were unmasked last Saturday (February 1) as Kingfisher and Snail, reports the Mirror.
It’s quite astonishing that just under half of those eliminated are professional singers, with two exiting the competition early – remember Macy Gray’s dramatic exit after the judges chose a lesser vocalist over her?

Now, only five characters remain – Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Pufferfish, and Wolf. Judging by their voices, it’s safe to say that four are singers, while one definitely isn’t. So, do they deserve to be in the semi-final?
Viewers were gobsmacked last week when Pufferfish – arguably the show’s strongest vocalist ever – found themselves in the bottom three after delivering a mesmerising performance of Barbra Streisand’s 1964 musical theatre classic Don’t Rain on My Parade.
Fans were left utterly gobsmacked as Bush miraculously sailed through the audience vote, despite a vocal performance that was widely considered inferior to their fellow contestants.
The social media platform X (formerly Twitter) exploded with comments from disgruntled fans venting their frustration over the result. One user lamented: “The best singers are objectively Pufferfish and Dressed Crab, so of course the studio audience put Pufferfish in the bottom three!”

Meanwhile, another expressed disbelief: “Pufferfish in the bottom 3 when they’re the best singer in the show is WILD,” while a third criticised the audience: “This audience needs to sort their lives out, tbh. Pufferfish is the clear winner, she shouldn’t be in the bottom. Bush should have been.”
Another viewer chimed in, highlighting Bush’s success against a backdrop of more talented singers being sent packing: “Well, Bush is a fan favourite, managing to beat Macy Gray, Carol Decker, and now Andrea Corr!”
Don’t get me wrong – Bush has been a joy to watch, but the longer the series goes on and better singers are eliminated, the less fun it becomes. Yes, the children in the audience will gravitate towards the cuter characters; case in point, Alex Brooker – aka Bigfoot – came second last year over singers such as Lemar, Tiffany, Keala Settle, and Melody Thornton.
Maybe a brand new season with all non-professional singers could be worth it in the future, but until then, it’s clear who should make it all the way to the final. It is called The Masked Singer for a reason.
