A 22-year-old Toronto man and a boy are facing gun and drug charges in Mississauga after a police cruiser was struck by another vehicle.

Peel Regional Police said patrol officers responded to reports shortly after 11 a.m. Monday of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sardis Cres. and Lee Dr., near Tomken Rd. and Eastgate Pkwy.

As officers arrived at the scene, their patrol car was struck by the suspect vehicle, police said.

Cops managed to pin the vehicle and arrest the driver, police said. The passenger attempted to flee but was arrested following a foot pursuit.

During the chase, police allege the passenger threw away a firearm.

Following an investigation, authorities seized a loaded 9mm Glock 48 handgun as well as large quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.

The driver, Omar Camara, and the passenger, a male youth, were both held in custody pending a bail hearing at a Brampton court.

They are both charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm; possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon; possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized; knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, carless storage of firearm, weapon; prohibited device or ammunition; dangerous operation; trafficking in a controlled substance; trafficking – opioid; and flight from peace officer.
