The Duchess of Sussex has been featured alongside prominent Black women including Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou in a new project celebrating Black women’s achievements, spearheaded by Tyler Perry.

Meghan Markle, 43, appears in a black and white portrait montage shared by Perry on Instagram, which forms part of a heartfelt tribute to historical icons and contemporary figures.

The project showcases both celebrated personalities and everyday women, featuring images from community settings and political rallies.

The portrait of the Duchess used in the tribute is the same one that previously promoted her Archetypes podcast on Spotify.

The project centres around a new song titled “BLKWMN”, set to release on February 21.

The track, written by singer Ledisi and producer Jocmusiq, features a smooth melody with striking opening lyrics: “Black hue, born from a golden hour…”

The visual element includes black and white photographs compiled by Tyler Perry and Kvle Johnson.

Tracee Ellis Ross, also featured in the project, shared the teaser on social media, writing: “Thank you @ledisi and @tylerperry for including me in the beautiful tribute to Black women.”

The collection extends beyond celebrities, incorporating images of ordinary women at work and in their communities.

The visual narrative includes powerful moments from political protests and rallies, creating a comprehensive celebration of Black women’s experiences and contributions.
