SOFTEN THOSE EDGES

I live in Hamilton and subscribe to a left-leaning newspaper so I rarely see anything that supports the provincial or federal Conservatives. All of my family and a good portion of my friends are Liberals and will support the Liberals no matter what. They do not understand the damage the Liberals have done to Canada and are the reason we are where we are now with the U.S. The biggest issue they have with Pierre Poilievre is they think he is just like Trump. They have no facts to substantiate this claim but that is what they say to me. If I can offer one piece of advice to Poilievre is to separate himself from any far-right groups and soften up his abrasiveness so that he can appeal to Liberals that may be sitting on the fence. Poilievre is the only one who can get us out of this current Liberal mess.

(It’s disappointing in this day and age too many people only focus on views that reinforce what they already believe. But if they like high taxes, high inflation and a zero accountability government, then the Liberals are for them)
LIBRARIES ARE FOR BOOKS
Re “Holy Chow” (Brian Lilley, Jan. 14): Mayor Olivia Chow says the proposed tax hike will mean change for Torontonians’ lives, but I doubt it’s going to be in any good way. We haven’t seen any great changes in the last few years with the last few increases, so what is going to be different now? Oh yeah! The libraries will be open seven days a week — which allows another day for the people who use the premises to sleep in, use drugs in the washrooms, and basically be a nuisance. They aren’t there to read a book! I stopped going in my library when I had to constantly step over the homeless man sleeping in the entryway and when I entered the washroom only to find someone shooting up. Thanks but no thanks! I’d rather keep my hard-earned dollar.
