Greggs has launched two new menu items that fans can’t wait for, as the bakery chain attempts to rival McDonald’s and KFC. The chain has become hugely popular across the UK, with 2,500 bakeries operating up and down the country.

It’s affordable range of hot and cold food has made it a hit, and its iconic items, like its sausage rolls and steak bakes, have become firm favourites. But Greggs have begun to pivot away from their bakery line up, now adding a new chicken burger and wrap to its menu.

The additions marks another move into expansion, after the chain added fish finger sandwiches and wraps last May. The new burger and wrap are low-cost to match the rest of Greggs’ food and drink items, and will be available across the UK from Thursday, February 6.

The barbecue crispy chicken burger costs just £4, while the wrap, made with southern fried chicken goujons, costs £3.80. Both can be purchased as part of the Hot Sandwich Deal for £4.95, which includes any hot sandwich, wedges, or side salad and a drink

Greggs is continuing to expand its hot, made-to-order items in order to give customers more choice. The bakery chain said that the range will be rolled out into over 300 shops nationwide by spring. Past favourites will also be returning this year on the fresh menu.

The Katsu Chicken Bake, a savoury delight made with chicken breast in a Japanese-inspired Katsu style curry sauce, wrapped in puff pastry, will be back on the menu.

For those with a sweet tooth, the Cherry Bakewell Muffin is also returning, as well as, the Cinnamon drinks range, including the cinnamon swirl latte and flat white. The menu isn’t the only thing expanding this year, Greggs is also planning to open between 140 and 150 shops in 2025.
