Elizabeth Chambers has condemned Kanye West’s treatment of his wife Bianca Censori at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, labelling it a “humiliation ritual” after the rapper instructed his spouse to remove her coat on the red carpet.

The TV personality, 42, took to Instagram on Monday to voice her concerns over the incident which saw Censori, 30, strip down to reveal a see-through slip that left little to the imagination.

Chambers, who hosts a show about toxic relationships, expressed alarm at West’s apparent control over his wife during the controversial red-carpet appearance.

A lip-reading expert revealed West allegedly told Censori she was “making a scene” during the controversial moment as he initially instructed: “Does that make sense, push that out of the way…that person right there.”

Fellow expert Nicola Hickling claims West then complained to his wife about “making a scene” before adding: “Make a scene, I’ll say it’ll make so much sense.”

The rapper then allegedly directed: “Drop it behind you and then turn, I got you,” to which Censori responded: “Alright, let’s go.”

Body language expert Judi James noted Censori displayed “what looked like nerves” before the removal of her coat.

Chambers was left more than unimpressed with the treatment of Censori during the award show which was attended by royalty in Hollywood, and condemned on her Instagram story: “The number of messages I’ve received defending this behaviour is abhorrent,

“If this brief interaction looked comfortable, balanced, and consensual to you, that’s concerning.”

The former TV host described West encouraging Censori to disrobe as “misogyny and control at its finest”.

“I’ve spent the past almost two years hosting and producing our show about coercion, control, and toxicity in relationships on @investigationdiscovery and this ticks all the boxes,” she added.

Chambers has been working to empower victims through her Investigation Discovery programme, which focuses on toxic relationships.

Influencer Tinx’s statement, which Chambers reposted, highlighted concerns about power dynamics in West and Censori’s relationship.

“I really don’t buy that this was some mutual art experiment. To me, it looked like some sort of humiliation ritual. Of course, women have agency, but there’s also an insane power dynamic at play here. Age, money, fame, etc.”

The TikTok star, 34, referenced West’s ex Julia Fox, who had previously detailed the rapper’s “manipulation tactics through fashion and styling” in her 2023 memoir, Down the Drain.

The Grammy Awards stunt has reportedly cost West a £16million deal to perform in Japan, according to sources in Tokyo, after he had planned two shows at the Tokyo Dome in May. Investors reportedly withdrew following the controversial red carpet appearance.

An insider said: “Kanye is just messing up every opportunity that comes to him. The stunt was creepy beyond belief and has been greeted with horror in Japan.

“Japan is having a cultural awakening about women’s rights and the MeToo movement is really strong here. What he did is being seen as an act of coercive control which is utterly unacceptable.”

The View’s host Alyssa Farah Griffin expressed her dismay at the incident, stating she didn’t want to see West on red carpets anymore and slammed: “I hope that his partner is OK because that whole thing was very uncomfortable, I think, for most women, to watch.”

Former View co-host Meghan McCain also condemned West’s behaviour in a since-deleted social media post and said: “He’s a repugnant, vile piece of garbage and his wife looks like a victim and a hostage.”
