Tesco customers have an opportunity to trim a significant sum off their shopping bills by choosing a less expensive alternative to the luxury brand Sol de Janeiro, which many have praised for its “divine” scent. By opting for a less expensive option, buyers stand to save a whopping £33.
The bargain discovery was made by a member of the Extreme Bargains and Couponing UK Facebook group, who found the sprays in their local Tesco. Priced at just £4.75 for a large 250ml bottle, these sprays are available in several variants, all of which look very similar to the more expensive brand’s offerings.
Tesco’s Skin Saints line includes Summer Soleil, boasting a mix of salted caramel and pistachio scents, Island Breeze with its zesty blend of orange flower and cedarwood, as well as Sweet Haze which combines jasmine and vanilla. Not pictured in the original photo is the Golden Hour mist (also 250ml for £4.75), rich with the floral fragrances of ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine.
In comparison, if you were after the Sol de Janeiro branded body spray from Boots, expect to pay £38 for their 240ml bottle. Even the smaller 90ml size demands a hefty price tag of £24, reports the Mirror.
Dozens praised the sprays on social media, acknowledging the immense savings that you get with the alternative version. One said: “The pink one smells so nice!” Another claimed: “The blue Island one is beautiful. Smells divine!”

Someone else added: “The salted caramel one is my favourite!” One more was impressed by the volume, commenting: “The size of them! That’s great value if they’re as nice as what they’re meant to be!” Another person pointed out that they were “massive” for less than a fiver.
There are numerous products on the market that have been touted as affordable alternatives to Sol de Janerio. Recently, Primark launched a full collection of fragrances priced at just £3.50 per bottle. Similar lines have also been spotted in Poundland, B&M and Home Bargains.
However, none of these offerings match the size of Tesco’s version, which means it should last longer, allowing you to spritz more generously without worrying about the cost per spray. Most of the Skin Saints range is available to view on Tesco’s website with a collection of other beauty essentials, including various creams and serums.
