The hit BBC drama Boiling Point has been shelved after just one season, despite rave reviews and top ratings. The four-part series came after the 2021 film of the same name, and picked up eight months after the movie’s ending that saw chef Andy Jones, played by Stephen Graham, collapse with a heart attack.

But a source told The Sun that the hit show will not be returning to viewers’ screen, after it was revealed the BBC has no plans for a second series.

The show gave viewers an insight into the behind the scenes of a London restaurant, following Andy trying to find his footing without running a restaurant and Carly (Vinette Robinson), who becomes head chef of Point North.

The source said: “It’s not often a drama gets such love from viewers and critics but Boiling Point was such a rarity the team has been left disappointed that there’s no news on a second series.

“The fact is there’s still an appetite for more, it’s just making that happen.

“Boiling Point is on the shelf, so to speak, but if the right story or idea comes along then there’s every chance it could be back on screens one day.”

Boiling Point has a rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, making the news even more disappointing to fans.

Critics praised the show, with The Guardian calling it: “One of the best things on television this year”, whilst The Standard described it as “extraordinary”.

Viewers have called the news a “shame” on social media and some fans have said they are “gutted” that the show won’t be returning.
