A riverside pub in Bristol has been named among the top five ‘most remote pubs’ and therefore the most difficult to get to, in the UK. Bristol’s Beeses Riverside Bar, which is located next to the river in the Brislington area, was ranked fifth in the list.

According to hospitality payment experts at Dojo, who ranked the most remote pubs in the UK according to how to access them and how far away the pub is from the closest city, Beeses is accessible by ferry but not by car or foot, and is some 4.6 miles away from Bristol’s City Centre.

The ranking says: “Located in Bristol, Beeses Riverside Bar is located on the river and those wanting to visit can book a local ferry ride to and from Beeses for as little as £2 for a return trip! The ferry leaves from Bristol and drops visitors off at Beeses Riverside Bar. The bar is just five miles out from Bristol city centre so is easily accessible for those wanting to visit.”

In fact, Beeses is accessible by land in addition to the iconic ferry boat rides you can embark on. According to the bar’s website: “With respect to the local residents we suggest using taxis, bikes or public transport where possible when you are travelling to Beeses.

“Taxis will ordinarily drop you at Wyndham Crescent. The entrance to the lane is 20 yards down on the left, and is marked ‘To Conham Ferry’. Beeses is located at the bottom.

“Coming from Bristol city centre the number 1 bus conveniently stops a short distance from us. Get off across the road from the Good Intent pub, walk downhill from there and you will see the lane going through the park (it takes less than 5 minutes to get here).”

The pet friendly pub is only open at certain times of the year, closing during the winter months from around October and reopening usually around April time. You can book your wedding here, and every Friday night is band night at Beeses.

What’s more, it boasts Sunday roasts, a full main menu of dishes, and, of course, a bar full of tipples. Other pubs featured on the list of most remote pubs in the UK included:

  1. The Puffer Bar, Easdale Island, Scotland
  2. The Ship Inn, Holy Island
  3. Ship Inn, Piel Island, Barrow-in-Furness
  4. The Turf Hotel, Exminster
