BBC Breakfast’s cherished weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has thrilled her fans with some fabulous news about her blossoming side project.
Renowned for gracing our screens with the latest forecasts on the iconic morning programme, Carol is also carving out a niche as an esteemed romance novelist.
In a recent post on the platform formerly known as Twitter, she shared that her literary endeavours are soaring to new heights.
The Strictly Come Dancing celebrity, who has already published four novels—with her debut hitting the shelves in 2021 and the latest release hot off the press last year—shared updates on her third book.
Carol enthusiastically posted: “I’m so pleased to let you know that Secrets of the Villa Amore has been selected for a Kindle Monthly Deal (KMD) and will be priced at 99p for the entire month of February. Great news ahead of Valentine’s Day! ! Xxx,” complete with a heart emoji.
The announcement spurred some light-hearted confusion among her followers, leading to a comical exchange. One fan, misinterpreting her announcement, joked: “Great news. Your post about your next book came through as ‘wanted to let you know about my latest romance….!’ I panicked,” prompting Carol to reply with laughter expressed through emojis.
The fan’s momentary alarm stemmed from recently celebrating Carol’s new marital status with Steve Randall—a police officer and father—one year on from their engagement, with their wedding occurring on December 27, 2023, reports the Mirror.
Carol spilled the beans on her blooming romance with Steve, who’s 13 years her junior and a police officer, confessing that their bond outshines her first marriage.
In a heartfelt chat last summer, she revealed to The Times: “Love is lovelier the second time around. No disrespect to my first husband, but this is better.”
She also described how well they mesh in their daily routines, with Carol rising early at 2.45am for work and Steve being there for her, saying: “I get up at 2.45am. Steve, who’s a police officer, gets up too and makes me a cup of tea. I get to Broadcasting House, which is the headquarters of BBC in London, by 4am.”
After keeping her love life under wraps for years, Carol finally divulged the charming details of their initial encounter. “I met Steve at a work function about seven years ago. I was drinking an espresso martini, and Steve very sensibly wasn’t drinking because he’s a policeman and had work the next day,” she disclosed.
And on recalling their first informal date, she added: “We went on our first lunch date shortly after and had sandwiches and tea. It’s strange to think that neither of us had planned on going to the function, but we changed our minds at the last minute, and if one of us hadn’t, we’d never have met.”
BBC Breakfast airs Mondays-Fridays from 6am on BBC One.
