A child was apprehended by police at Derriford Hospital following reports of an individual posing as a doctor. Eyewitnesses reported that the young person arrived at the hospital on the morning of Sunday, January 19, dressed in scrubs and carrying a counterfeit ID, although it remains unclear which area of the hospital he was in or whether he had access to patients or medical records.
Police have now confirmed their attendance at the hospital and the initial arrest of a child, who was subsequently given ‘words of advice’.
A representative for Devon and Cornwall Police stated: “Police were called at around 10.30am on Sunday, January 19, by Derriford Hospital security following reports from staff of a male impersonating a doctor at the hospital. Officers attended and arrested a 13-year-old boy.”
“The boy was de-arrested and the matter has since been dealt with by way of words of advice and intervention/education work from the Child Centred Policing Team.”
“No further police action will follow regarding this incident,” reports Plymouth Live.
