Silent Witness fans have been left feeling emotional as the show’s beloved leads tied the knot in a heartwarming finale.

Season 28 of the popular crime drama came to an end this Tuesday (February 4), with the final episode, titled I Believe in Love, broadcasting on BBC One.

Last night’s thrill-packed instalment opened with a harrowing incident at a Syrian pizza shop that resulted in six fatalities. Emilia Fox’s character Nikki Alexander and David Caves’s Jack Hodgson sprang into action to locate the assailant responsible for the gruesome event.

In tonight’s climax, the Lyell crew managed to solve the mystery, thanks to pivotal CCTV footage that implicated a former soldier.

As they approached their wedding day, Nikki shared her preference for a small ceremony with Jack, which initially upset him, reports Plymouth Live.

Jack expressed his desire for perfection in their wedding, saying, “I just wanted it to be perfect for you,” prompting Nikki to affirm: “Marrying you, how can that be anything less than perfect?”

Ultimately, the couple chose to expedite their nuptials, with Kit acting as their witness and Harriet serving as Jack’s best man.

During their heartfelt vow exchange, Nikki professed, “I have faith in you and us. I’m giving my heart to you,” and a beaming Jack pledged in return, “And I’m giving mine to you, and I promise to cherish it.”

Overjoyed viewers immediately flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to express their delight over the show’s touching conclusion, with one fan gushing: “These mini vows to each other ohhhhh I’m crying.”

“Crying at #SilentWitness what a beautiful ending to a great series,” observed one fan, while another emotionally noted: “These vows are so so precious and beautiful. It’s so intimate to see just the two of them making these promises to each other.”
