Princess Kate wore a brand new design today, just days after the reported protocol change from Kensington Palace.

The Princess of Wales visited the National Portrait Gallery with schoolchildren, who all arrived together on a minibus.

Kate, 43, carried out an engagement at the National Portrait Gallery to launch The Bobeam Tree Trail – the first project to be based on the new Shaping Us Framework which was published on Sunday.

For her visit, the Princess wore a blazer she had not previously worn by Bulgarian designer Petar Petrov.

Kate has worn the designer’s creations in the past, but the brown £1,200 blazer she wore today is new.

Its description reads: “Petar Petrov uses quality materials, relevant shapes and fine attention to detail ensures its impeccable tailoring is the kind you’ll buy now and wear forever.

“This blazer is made from a wool blend and has a slightly loose fit with a darted, nipped-in waist and padded shoulders.”

The mother-of-three additionally wore her £75 Sezane gold hoop earrings, which are sadly no longer in stock.

Finally, Kate accessorised with her £140 gold bangle from Halcyon Days.

The royal’s outing comes just days after it was reported that Kensington Palace would no longer be confirming royal fashion details to the public.

A source told the Times: “There is an absolute feeling that it [the public work] is not about what the princess is wearing.

“She wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting.

“There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public and she gets that.

“But do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there but it’s about the substance.”

The publication noted that Kensington Palace may still occasionally comment on significant outfits, but not for the everyday types of engagements.
