Jeremy Clarkson has shared he’s “desperate not to die” in a candid health update.

The Clarkson’s Farm star, 64, shared last year how he underwent heart surgery and has since made a conscious effort to stay healthy.

The former Top Gear star now has two grandchildren, with his daughter Emily Clarkson having recently given birth to her second daughter.

In a sweet confession, Clarkson explained his desire to continue being a grandfather for as long as possible has motivated him to focus on his health.

“I’m not going to dwell on the joys of being a grandparent because what can be said about it has already been said,” he wrote in a recent Sunday Times column.

“But I have decided it’s so wonderful I want it to go on for as long as is humanly possible,” he added.

Detailing his health plans, he continued: “Which means I must do everything in my power to not die.

“(But) I dislike discomfort, loathe bicycles and find gyms and everyone in them weird.”

After expressing his dislike for most exercise, the Grand Tour star shared: “I employed the services of a local girl who explained it had something to do with an activity called Pilates.

“I decided I’d give it a bash. And so, on day one, she made me lie down on the table top with my feet on a sort of crossmember and, for a whole hour, breathe in through my nose and then out of my mouth.

“I found this very easy and decided I’d have another lesson the very next day.”

Pilates has become somewhat of a trend online, but Clarkson admitted: “I’m not unenjoying it.”

He credited his instructor for making the sessions enjoyable but noted he enjoys the “slow motion” of the movements.

In October last year, Clarkson shared the frightening experience of needing to undergo a heart procedure.

Writing for The Times at the time, he recalled: “The next morning I went home, and here I am, two hours later, writing this and sort of thinking, ‘Crikey, that was close.’

“I have no idea why I had felt clammy the previous day or why I’d had those pins and needles.

“I certainly wasn’t having a heart attack. But if it hadn’t looked that way, I never would have been sent to hospital and fed into that Polo mint.”

After he shared news about the procedure, concerned fans were quick to express their worries about his health, which prompted Clarkson to issue an update addressing people’s worries.

“I’m very grateful to everyone who sent supportive messages but I’m fine,” he assured fans.
