Danny Jones has opened up about his struggles after ignoring a doctor’s warning following his stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.
The McFly star said medics warned him against overeating after leaving the camp, instead saying he should ‘go small, go easy’. Danny however says he ignored the warning and ended up finding himself feeling worse for wear, reports Lancs Live.
Speaking on the Staying Relevant podcast with former The Only Way is Essex’ star Pete Wicks, Danny divulged: “I was craving fruit, I was craving that sweet stuff. Vanilla milkshake was the closest I got to satisfaction.”
“It’s cold, I was craving that. I had a beer, I felt terrible. I had a burger, I felt terrible. I was on Imodium for three days straight, it was hard, I was like ‘oh my God’.”
The conversation took a light-hearted turn as host Pete Wicks quipped about Danny being “s******* through the eye of a needle”. Addressing his dietary misadventures, Danny added: “It was bad, all through the night.
“The last thing the doc said to me was ‘go small, go easy,’ obviously I didn’t, but I thought half a burger and a milkshake would have been small and easy, it’s not, you have to go easy on yourself.”
This revelation from Danny led to a reminiscent moment for Pete, who pondered over his own alimentary trials following his stint on ‘Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls’. The survival-based programme thrust celebrities onto an uninhabited island, equipped with scant water supplies and rudimentary training, compelling them to construct shelter and scavenge for sustenance.
Pete shared: “I did Bear Grylls the Island about five years ago and lost a f****** load of weight and you can’t eat. When you’re in shows like that you’re dreaming of all the things you miss eating and then when you come out, you eat them, and it’s not as good as what you remember.”
“I couldn’t stomach anything. The best thing I could eat was fresh fruit, because it’s the sweetness and whatever else.”
“But you’re thinking about sweets and f****** doughnuts and s*** and you eat them and think ‘it’s not great’. It took me so long to eat properly and I don’t know anyone who has been the same as me.”
Pete revealed that his fellow I’m A Celeb winner and podcast co-host Sam Thompson simply “cracked on eating” post-show. Meanwhile, Danny’s campmate Maura Higgins exited the jungle and indulged in a “full fry-up, then a burger and three plates of pasta”.
