The 2025 Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) will kick off next week at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, opening to the public on February 14 and running through to the 23. This year will see the notable debut of an important new model from Kia in the form of its EV5, a vehicle which will not be offered in America.
Kia’s new EV5 is a compact electric vehicle meant to be an affordable entry into the segment and is set to appear in Canadian dealerships early next year. But visitors to the Auto Show can get an advance look at this EV, one which promises long-legged range and has styling which can’t be mistaken for anything but a Kia.
Mercedes-Benz Canada is also making a return to the show, marking its first appearance at the event in five years. In addition to having a large range of its luxury lineup on display, the brand will showcase the Canadian premiere of its first fully-electric variant of the sturdy G-Wagen (Geländewagen), technically called the G 580 with EQ Technology, but likely to be referred to by all hands as simply “the electric G-Wagen.”
Nissan Canada is showing up with a pair of concept vehicles as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, marking six decades in this country. Project Trailgater is a beefed-up 2025 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X; while the Frontier Tarmac Concept is a fat-tired truck with wild fender flares and a supercharger added to its V6 engine.
Volvo Cars is presenting the newly redesigned XC90 to Canada at the show, along with having some examples – plus an EV or two – on hand for test drives. As well, Camp Jeep is back offering indoor rides in the brand’s latest 4x4s, all of which will go up and over a towering series of man-made obstacles.
A too-cool LEGO Technic copy of the McLaren P1 will make its North American debut, along with the likes of Mattel, which will showcase two vehicles from its Hot Wheels Garage of Legends, namely a model inspired by the Star Wars X-Wing Fighter; and a 2005 Ford SEMA Mustang GT. Both cars are making their Auto Show debut. Oh, yeah—and there will be a tribute to the legendary Bigfoot monster truck.
And those are just a few of the manufacturers and features on display. In all, there are plans for better than 40 automotive brands to have wares on display at the show. Last year’s event broke attendance records, with some 370,000 visitors passing through the turnstiles. The event runs from February 14 to the 23, and is open to the public each day.
