A 67-year-old Toronto woman has been charged with careless driving causing death in connection with a pedestrian being stuck by a car travelling westbound on Hwy. 401 at the Keele St. off-ramp.

Cops said that on Jan. 9 at about 6:50 a.m., the accused was allegedly operating a grey 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe when a 34-year-old male pedestrian was crossing Keele north of the off-ramp. The vehicle made a right-hand turn to travel northbound on Keele and struck him.

Police said the pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

TORONTO MAN CUFFED FOR CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBERY

A 39-year-old Toronto man faces four charges following a Jan. 19 retail robbery in the Queen St. W.-Lansdowne Ave. area.

Cops said that at 3:37 a.m., a masked male suspect carrying a crowbar allegedly smashed the glass door of a convenience store and demanded cash from an employee. Police said the crowbar was left inside the store.

On Jan. 29, a search warrant was executed and the suspect was located and taken in to custody. Items of evidentiary value related to the investigation were also allegedly recovered.

Jonathan Wilmott, 39, of Toronto, has been charged with break-and-enter commit, robbery, disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

TEEN KILLED IN SINGLE-VEHICLE OSHAWA CRASH

An 18-year-old male has died after a single-vehicle crash in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police said that on Monday at 4:39 a.m., they were called to a collision at Grandview St. N. and Rathburn St. after a vehicle travelling southbound left the roadway and struck a light standard and sign. The car’s single occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected and the collision is still under investigation.
