Rory McIlroy enjoyed a heartwarming FaceTime call with his wife and daughter after securing his 27th PGA Tour victory and 37th career win over the weekend.
The Holywood man closed with a six-under 66 to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am by two shots from Shane Lowry on 21-under-par on Sunday and quickly rang home to share the good news.
In a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, McIlroy is seen smiling at his phone while facetiming his daughter Poppy and wife, Erica Stoll after his win.
The Co Down native smiled as his daughter told him she was enjoying a bubble bath, while his wife playfully asked her if she had anything to say to her ‘dada.
In the video, Poppy can be heard saying: “We’re taking a bubbles, we are taking a bubble bath!”
Erica then prompts her daughter, “What do you want to say to Dada?”
Poppy follows up with, “I love you, mwah!” and “Cheers papa.”
Erica then added, “How about congratulations?”
After this encouragement Poppy congratulated her dad saying, “Congratulations, papa!”
McIlroy and his wife welcomed Poppy in August 2020 but this isn’t the first time she has made headlines.
Back in 2023, Poppy stole the show from her dad when the Holywood man won the Scottish Open an adorable video of her refusing to hug him and instead running away went viral.
McIlroy family life made headlines last year when he filed for divorce from Erica after seven years of marriage, serving her with papers at their home in Florida.
Less than a month after Erica was served, the filing was withdrawn and the couple have remained together.
After the withdrawal of the filing, the golfer made a rare statement about his personal life.
“There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumour is a fool’s game,” McIlroy told The Guardian.
“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
