A woman says she was left ‘looking like a character from Monsters Inc’ after suffering an allergic reaction to tattooed lipstick. Tash Evans claims she felt the swelling at the start of the one-and-a-half-hour procedure. The 21-year-old said she had the shock of her life when she looked in the mirror and saw that her lips had ballooned to five times their usual size.

Tash says that she resembled the character Fungus from Disney Pixar film Monsters Inc. In the film, the villain is left with giant lips after being sucked into a scream extractor machine. Tash had the permanent make-up treatment done on January 18. “I had a jump scare when I looked at myself in the mirror,” said, Tash from Manchester. “They started swelling as soon as she started doing it.

“When they’re numbed, they feel swollen anyway, so I didn’t realise how bad it was. I didn’t know my lips could go that big. All I could see was the character from Monsters Inc when he gets stuck in the machine. My mum said how ‘ugly’ I looked and her and my dad did the usual thing of saying I ‘didn’t need it.’

“When my boyfriend saw me, we both burst out laughing and he shut the door on me.”

Tash had filler in her top lip one year ago as she felt her bottom lip was proportionally bigger but didn’t suffer from an allergic reaction to it. She decided to have lip blush tattooed as she believed the filler made the outline of her mouth look ‘blurry.’ The swelling started to subside after two days, but Tash said she was forced to wear a mask when she left the house.

She said: “I’ve had lip filler before and had no problems. This has never happened before, but tattooing is different. I have a massive bottom lip and a tiny top lip, so I had filler and didn’t have any regrets. Nobody else noticed it but I felt like my lip outline was blurry, so I wanted to get blush to even it out.

“The lady who did it said the swelling would go down by the evening, but it took about two days. I had to wear a mask to Asda and luckily I booked the day off work on Monday for my boyfriend’s birthday.”

Tash shared a clip of her swollen lips on TikTok and the post has racked up more than 1.2 million views. Tash said: “People were saying it’s an allergic reaction and were telling me to go to A&E but I wasn’t going to do that. There are more important people who need A&E.

“I wasn’t in pain so I can laugh. It was worth it for the laugh. I made about a million people’s day. I’m happy with the results and colour now the swelling has gone down.

“I don’t think it’s the practitioners fault. She was really nice and responded promptly to my messages.” Others also compared Tash to Fungus while some urged her to see a doctor. Dommi said: “Lip blush or scream extractor? I hope that goes down for you soon. It looks so sore.”

Another person added: “Girl, please take antihistamines. It should help the swelling go down.” Jess Youde added: “Mine went huge like this. They go down I promise. Best thing I’ve ever done and now they look great.”
