Home Bargains has wowed customers with its latest canvas, which could be easily mistaken for an expensive, highly sought-after painting. The budget superstore sells almost anything you could need, from food and snacks, to skincare, DIY tools, gardening essentials and home decor items.
As part of its newest winter homeware collection, shoppers can grab a ‘beautiful’ £12.99 artwork. The canvas has attracted plenty of attention due to its similarities to a £970 Studio McGee painting.
On Instagram, interiors blogger Sophie Higgs – who goes by the username Home_by_the_cloud – uploaded a video of the “absolute bargain” to her 376k followers. In it she hangs the piece up on a wall, just above her bed, and tells viewers: “It finishes off our bedroom perfectly.”
In the caption, she added: “This absolute bargain painted picture was only £12.99 and a really similar one from Studio McGee is £968! Remember a couple of weeks ago when I said I’d found the most incredible home find, that I actually think could be the bargain of the year – well this is it!”
She continued: “It’s from @Homebargains and I love it so much. The picture is actually painted on the canvas and it has a wooden frame around it too. I’d been looking for the perfect picture for our bedroom and I’m so happy I found this.”
The £12.99 canvas is being compared to McGee & Co’s Cotton Candy Clouds painting. On the official website, a description of the artwork reads: “Cotton candy clouds graze over this serene lake scene in this piece for a creative play on colour.”
It adds: “With warm tones juxtaposed against cool greens and blues, it lends a soft dimension to your entryway vignette.” The painting is on sale for $1,194, which is the equivalent of £696.98.
By opting for Home Bargains £12.99 version, shoppers can save themselves hundreds of pounds. The bargain canvas is only available in stores, so shoppers will need to make a trip to their nearest branch to get it.
In the comment section, many people were impressed by the ‘bargain find of the year’. One person said: “What a find!” A second put: “Say whattt? That’s amazing!!”
Another wrote: “Wow, so similar – and what a bargain!” A fourth commented: “Wow what an amazing find! It looks perfect styled here in your bedroom.” One more added: “I saw this the other day it’s a beauty.”
One keen shopper asked: “I’m obsessed with this artwork! Have been to two stores and both aren’t big enough to stock it – do you know if it’s online.” Sophie Higgs replied: “It’s so nice isn’t it, I don’t think it’s online sorry. If you’re local to Cheshire then Macclesfield Lyme Green store had some on Monday.”
