Choosing a baby name is easier said than done – especially if you and your partner can’t agree on which moniker to use.
Finding a middle ground can feel impossible, as one pregnant woman found out recently. She is currently trying to dissuade her husband from picking what she considers to be a “terrible” name for their unborn child.
The expectant mother revealed they’re still “months away” from meeting their baby, but name discussions have begun. Her husband has a penchant for names starting with ‘K’ that have a strong ‘K’ sound, yet his choices so far haven’t impressed her.
So in a bid to stop him, she turned to social media for advice. On Reddit, she admitted: “My husband’s really killing me on his baby boy names. Even though we are months away, I need to stop this crazy train before we get any closer. His (truly) preferred boy names are Krillin and Keanu. He prefers a ‘K’ name with a hard phonetic ‘K’.
“I am the complete opposite, loving names like Grayson and Theodore. What’s a name that’s not a tragedy?! I’m okay with a name without the ‘K’, but I’d love to hear suggestions to fit something more traditional and a less terrible ‘K’ alternative. Help my life – please!”
The commenters on the post rushed to the mum’s rescue, suggesting alternative names that could satisfy her husband’s fondness for K names, such as Kieran, Killian, Kenneth, Kaleb, or Kellen. They were less than impressed with the husband’s choices, with many commenting that Krillin sounded like a superhero movie villain.
One noted that Krillin is a character from the Dragon Ball Z anime, which only added to the mum’s dismay. She later replied: “I so appreciate all these recommendations and the general hatred for Krillin. Yes, it’s from Dragon Ball Z. And yes, that makes it even lamer than the name itself. I’m trying to find a compromise since I love a silly silly man, but I’ll be forever pregnant before I birth a Krillin!”
