Police said the attack happened in the residential Summer Street area of the city.

The PSNI said no one was in the house at the time but said the blaze has caused significant damage.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Faulkner said: “Shortly after 9:30pm, it was reported that an object was thrown through the living room of a property in the area causing a fire to start.

“Extensive damage was caused to the room following the incident, as well as the front windows of the property. At this stage, it is not believed that anyone was inside the property, as colleagues from Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the fire.
