The Masked Singer’s character, Bush, has managed to evade unmasking for another week, but fans believe they’ve already cracked the case.
On Saturday night, Kingfisher was revealed to be Sir Grayson Perry, much to the surprise of many who had pegged it as Harry Hill, including the judges.
Grayson humorously admitted he was doing his “Harry Hill impression” to mislead the panel. Snail was also unveiled as Andrea Corr, a guess that fans had been making for weeks.
Despite their misstep with Kingfisher, viewers are confident they’ve figured out Bush’s identity, particularly in light of recent headlines. Clues hinting at being “very busy with the day job” have led fans on X to suspect an EastEnders star, especially with the soap’s 40th anniversary approaching.
The judges have suggested former EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, but fans are leaning towards another EastEnders actor, especially after Bush teased, “Am I Maisie Smith, or have they got the wrong Ender the stick! ”
One viewer tweeted: “if bush is morgana robinson impersonating natalie cassidy it will actually be the best thing that’s ever happened on this show #maskedsingeruk. While another said: ” Another confidently stated: “Bush is 100% Natalie Cassidy! The clues, the accent, the voice – everything points to her! ” A third insisted: “Natalie Cassidy, it’s so obvious. You can hear her voice plain as day. #maskedsingeruk.”
A fourth fan declared: “If Bush isn’t Natalie Cassidy, I am going to be questioning everything #MaskedSingerUK,” reports the Mirror.
But Natalie has previously denied she is Bush. Speaking on her Off The Telly podcast, the soap icon deflected the rumours. Chatting to co-host Joanna Page, she questioned, “Can you imagine me doing that?” Leaving no room for doubt, Natalie bluntly added, “I am not Bush.”
This week, it was announced that Natalie would be leaving her role as Sonia Fowler on the soap after more than three decades. She will make her exit following the eagerly awaited 40th anniversary celebrations.
Currently, her character is pregnant with Reiss Colwell’s child, oblivious to the fact that he murdered his ex-wife. “I feel extremely sad to be writing this, but also very excited,” she expressed.
“After another 11 solid years back on The Square, I have decided it’s time to move on to pastures new. EastEnders is in my bones so I will never forget where I started my career and I will continue to love the show. Thank you to Chris Clenshaw for the opportunity to be such a big part of the 40th anniversary – it’s an honour.”
In an emotional farewell, Natalie wrote: “See ya, Sonia, going but never forgotten.”
Speaking further about Natalie’s departure, boss Chris Clenshaw stated: “Over the last 31 years in EastEnders, Natalie has been involved in some of the show’s most iconic and explosive storylines. Her portrayal of Sonia has made her a firm fan favourite amongst the viewers.
“I won’t be revealing the finite details relating to her exit, but I can say that she will take a central role in the 40th anniversary storylines in a week of truly unmissable drama that will change the lives of those in Walford forever. I’d like to thank Natalie for her time at EastEnders, and I wish her all the best for the future.”
The Masked Singer is on ITV1 on Saturdays and ITVX
