Sienna and Athena have “a great example to follow in the strong bond” between Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed their second daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on January 22, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The new arrival, who is the 14th great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, was born several weeks premature, weighing four pounds and five ounces.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the birth in a statement, noting: “Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Royal expert Jennie Bond highlighted the strong bond between Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, noting how their sisterhood has helped them through family challenges.

Bond told OK: “Having a sister is special. It just is. In good times and bad, it is so often your sisters you turn to.”

“Beatrice and Eugenie have had many occasions when their support for one another has been incredibly important.”

The former BBC correspondent added: “It’s lovely to see them, grown women now, still so close to one another so I’m absolutely sure that Beatrice’s greatest wish will be for her two girls to grow up supporting and loving one another.”

Bond praised the choice of name, telling OK!: “I think it’s a rather lovely name and it’s about time that the Royal Family moved away from strictly traditional names.”

The arrival of baby Athena has prompted warm celebrations across social media from family members.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi shared the first glimpse of his daughter on Instagram, posting a photo of her wrapped in a pink blanket.
